Medication Guidelines
All medications, both prescription and over the counter, require a physician/ licensed prescriber and parent written authorization. School personnel shall only dispense those medications necessary to maintain the child in school or that must be taken during school hours. Parents are responsible to provide the medication, bring it to the school (not send it with the student), and keep track of refills and expiration dates as necessary. Contact the individual Health Offices for further information and form.
Self-carry and self-medicate only apply to the Epi-Pen and quick-acting inhaler. Students with quick-acting inhaler medications may self-carry and self-medicate with written permission from their parent. Students with allergies at risk for anaphylaxis may carry their Epi-Pen with written permission from their physician and parent. All medication/ health forms are available in all Health Offices and are on the Woodland website https://www.dist50.net/STUDENTFORMS/pages/default.aspx .
Please pick up all medications from the Health Office on the last day of school. All medications for Summer School will be transferred from the appropriate school unless Health Office is notified by the parent. All medications will be discarded two weeks after the last day of school.
